There are not many warning signs of an impending ims failure short of a “death rattle” that occurs as the bearing fails and comes apart. These kits replace the factory sealed bearing with a new, severe duty custom ceramic hybrid roller ball bearing for reduced friction and superior performance in poorly lubricated operating conditions and replaces the factory ims flange hub, bearing support, and fastener with a stronger, revised billet chromoly assembly. The center bearing support also receives an increase in size and no longer is cut for the o-ring that keep engine oil from leaking out of the engine - we have relocated the o-ring to the ims hub flange for added strength to the center stud & bearing support...(choose a part on the right to read more)

This kit was designed to efficiently remove and install the wheel bearing and hub of spindle assemblies. Built-in self centering mechanism and incorporates a roller thrust bearing which lines up straight as an arrow during removal and reinstallation. Designed to slow down the power steering pump to prevent it from overheating in racing conditions, this pulley will quickly pay for itself by not just saving your pump, but also your weekend at the track. This pulley is fully balanced and is a 16% reduction. An added benefit is increased power and torque across the entire rpm range the kit comes complete with the crank pulley, tension adjusting tool, and a new crank pulley bolt. fits all 986, 987, 996 and 997 except the turbo, GT3 or dfi. a boss on the front of engine case will need to be cut down slightly to clear the smaller pulley size. Billet aluminum ims to crankshaft chain guide/tensioner, replacement for Porsche part no. 996 105 165 55, to help prevent catastrophic engine failures like this. Shown below is a comparison of our billet tensioner paddle compared to the cast factory tensioner. Billet construction provides a significantly stronger and more durable product while utilizing oe Porsche wear pad and pressure pin (both of which are included as shown). Update: we've found the factory plastic pressure pin to not be strong enough, so we've made a billet steel pressure pin against which the chain tensioner actuates to tension the crankshaft to ims drive chain.
